International collective, Garefowl, headline Stone Nest to present their new album 'Things That Vanish' with support from Visit Me.

'Things That Vanish' was recorded on the archipelago of St Kilda, Scotland, at night. The soundscapes of the island breathe across the record: a quiet rolling swell of winds, waves, birds, and the otherworldly thrum of the snipe. The pieces on the record take inspiration from the threatened seabirds of St Kilda.

Ewan Macdonald and his father Murdo are relatives of one of the men who killed the last Great Auk (Garefowl). Ewan conceived the Garefowl project to reflect on and mark this family history and connection to St Kilda. Garefowl is made up of an international collective of musicians combining strings and electronics: Nathan Bontrager (viola da gamba/harmonium/banjo), Stuart Graham (bouzouki/harmonica/harmonium), Chris Jones (concertina/mandolin), Ewan Macdonald (fiddle/smallpipe drone), Richard O’Flynn (island sounds/percussion/XRD drones) and Jess Whelligan (cello).
