Step away from the noise and speed of everyday life and into stillness - an intimate listening experience created and led by Eric Whitacre.

Performing live with electronics, Eric draws on some of his most loved music to create a constantly unfolding landscape of harmony, texture and space: somewhere between concert and meditation. Experience the hour however you choose. Sit in a chair or lie on a yoga mat, close your eyes or simply listen. Surrounded by sound, leave the outside world behind and allow the music to create space to slow down, reflect and simply be. 

Grammy Award-winning musician, Eric Whitacre, is one of the world’s most widely performed living composers. Writing for, and conducting, many of the world’s finest choirs and orchestras, he is also a public speaker and innovator. His pioneering Virtual Choirs have united more than 100,000 singers across 145 countries. Eric's collaboration with Spitfire Audio has resulted in two volumes of a trail-blazing vocal sample library - an instant best-seller and used by composers the world over. 

A Juilliard School (New York) graduate and multiple No. 1 recording artist with Decca Classics, he is currently Musician in Residence at Somerville College, Oxford and ambassador for the Royal College of Music. Eric has spoken at TED mainstage, the World Economic Forum, Apple and the United Nations, and collaborated with extraordinary musicians including Hans Zimmer, Laura Mvula, Imogen Heap and Annie Lennox. His latest major work Eternity in an Hour - written for electronics, choir, cello and piano - is released by Decca Classics in October 2026 following its premiere at the Royal Albert Hall.

stillness is presented by Classical Unlocked, creating distinctive live experiences that open up new ways to listen to and experience classical music.

Yoga mats and blankets will be provided for those joining us on the Ground Floor, while Balcony tickets offer conventional seating.
